Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian spoke on July 1 with his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba.

The Minister welcomed the deepening of bilateral relations between France and Ukraine in the political, economic and cultural spheres, particularly in the area of several key bilateral issues discussed during Mr. Kuleba’s visit to Paris on February 26. In that regard, he hailed the Ukrainian Parliament’s ratification this morning of four intergovernmental economic cooperation agreements signed in May by France and Ukraine, a tangible sign of the dynamism of our relationship.

The Minister reaffirmed France’s political commitment within the Normandy format to resolving the Donbas conflict and, in order to achieve that goal – to the full implementation of the Minsk Agreement and the conclusions reached at the Paris Summit on December 9, 2019. He mentioned Germany’s efforts at the Foreign Ministry level to make progress in this area with Russia. He also reiterated his great vigilance with regard to recent regional tensions, particularly in the Black Sea, his solidarity with our partners and his commitment to a strict respect for international law.
