Ukraine – Amélie de Montchalin’s participation in the inauguration of President Zelensky (20 May 2019)

Amélie de Montchalin, Minister of State for European Affairs attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is representing France today in Kiev at the inauguration of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, whom President Macron received on April 12 in Paris.

The minister of state will meet with the Ukrainian authorities, notably including President Zelensky.

Amélie de Montchalin will reaffirm France’s support for the Ukrainian people in the critical period ahead. She will confirm our country’s commitment within the Normandy Format with a view toward finding a solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine, as well as our determination to support the Ukrainian authorities in implementing reforms, combating corruption and strengthening the rule of law. Within the framework of France’s chairmanship of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers, she will signal France’s desire to maintain close contact with the Ukrainian authorities on all matters relating to this organization.
