Q: What is your reaction to President Erdogan’s announcement that he intends to launch a new operation in northern Syria?

A: The announcement of a potential new Turkish military operation in Syria is concerning.

Nothing must be done that would worsen the crisis that this country is already undergoing and which would threaten regional stability as well as the efforts of the International Coalition to Defeat ISIS.

France, together with its European and international partners, remains determined to actively pursue its efforts to find a credible and sustainable political solution founded on all of the components of the United Nations Security Council resolution 2254.
