Turkey – Conversation between Jean-Yves Le Drian and his counterpart (18 March 2021)

Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke by phone with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, on March 18.

This exchange of views, which follows on from the conversations between the two ministers on December 8 and between President Macron and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on March 2, provided an opportunity, in the wake of the tensions toward the end of last year, to take stock of our bilateral relations and relations between Turkey and the EU, notably in the run-up to the General Affairs Council on March 22 and the European Council on March 25 and 26.

The two ministers agreed to continue bilateral discussions, notably on regional issues.
