Q - What is your reaction to the announcement that the Tunisian parliament has been dissolved?

A - France would like to express its concern over the most recent developments in Tunisia. We reiterate the value that we place on respect for the rule of law and for the independence of the judiciary. We want to see Tunisian institutions resume normal operations as soon as possible so that they can respond to the economic and social emergency.

With all due respect for Tunisia’s sovereignty, France likewise calls on all of the country’s politicians to initiate an inclusive dialogue, avoid any form of violence and preserve the country’s democratic achievements.

France stands with the Tunisian people as they confront the challenges their country is facing.
