Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will meet with Othman Jerandi, Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, during his visit to France from November 24 to 25 for the Francophonie Ministerial Conference.
These meetings fall within the framework of our regular dialogue with the Tunisian authorities on the very close bilateral partnership between France and Tunisia and will allow for discussions on France’s support for Tunisia in the context of the health crisis. They will provide an opportunity for discussions on the sidelines of the Francophonie Ministerial Conference in the run-up to the Francophonie Summit due to take place in Djerba at the end of 2021.
During this meeting, the minister will also discuss with his counterpart the major regional crises, notably Libya, given the role played by Tunisia in the political process to resolve the crisis under UN auspices. Lastly, he will discuss the strengthening of our cooperation on migration issues, notably with respect to the fight against illegal migration.
