Tunisia – Meeting between Jean-Yves Le Drian and his Tunisian counterpart (18 March 2021)

Today in Paris, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian hosted Othman Jerandi, Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad.

They reviewed the health crisis and the main aspects of the dense partnership between France and Tunisia, particularly French support to help Tunisia deal with the consequences of the Covid-19 epidemic.

The minister reiterated that France stood ready to provide support for the action plan being developed by the Tunisian authorities to foster economic reforms.

The two ministers addressed bilateral cooperation on security, and specifically the fight against terrorism on this sixth anniversary of the Bardo attack. They also discussed strengthening our cooperation on migration issues, and particularly the fight against illegal immigration.

They reviewed the situation in Libya and major regional and multilateral issues.

They touched on preparations for the Francophonie summit scheduled to take place in Djerba this November.

They also laid the groundwork for the High-Level Cooperation Council to be held soon in Tunis and attended by both our Prime Ministers.
