Syria – United Nations – Meeting of the P5 on the implementation of resolution 2254 (Geneva, January 13, 2016)

France participated, at the senior official level, in a meeting of the five permanent members of the Security Council, organized by Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria Staffan de Mistura.

The meeting notably focused on the implementation of resolution 2254, the resumption of direct talks between the regime and the Syrian opposition and the humanitarian measures needed to create an environment conducive to these negotiations.

As Laurent Fabius indicated on January 11, France calls for the immediate and effective lifting of the sieges in Syria, for unrestricted humanitarian access and for an end to the attacks against civilians.
