Syria – Shelling in Idlib (6 November 2022)

France condemns in the strongest possible terms the November 6th shelling of tent settlements housing displaced people near Idlib, in northwestern Syria, by the Syrian regime, with Russian support. These attacks left at least nine dead, including three children, and more than 70 wounded. We offer our condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones.

France reaffirms its support for the appeal by the UN Secretary-General and his special envoy to end hostilities throughout Syria and to achieve a political solution in accordance with Resolution 2254.

France reaffirms its commitment to the strict respect of international humanitarian law and human rights. We reiterate our support for the fight against impunity.
