Syria - Q&A - Excerpts from the daily press briefing (02.11.17)

Q – Do you see the Russian proposal to hold a Syrian congress for national dialogue on November 18 in Sochi as an initiative that complements the Geneva process? Was France – which is trying to arrange a contact group on the subject – invited?

A - The Geneva process is the only appropriate forum agreed to by the international community to discuss the political aspects of the Syrian crisis, especially the electoral process and a new constitution.

We are in favor of anything that can help make this process a success on the basis of UN Security Council resolution 2254. International efforts, including those by Russia, must be part of this framework.
