A - During his recent visit to Tbilisi, Jean-Yves Le Drian reaffirmed France’s attachment to respect for the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia, within its internationally recognized borders.

Any recognition of persons exercising de facto control over the Georgian regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia constitutes, in this respect, a violation of international law.
