Syria – Attack against Al Quds Hospital in Aleppo – Statement by the minister of foreign affairs and international development (April 27, 2016)

I utterly condemn the bombing targeted against Al Quds Hospital in Aleppo, in the Sukkari neighborhood controlled by the opposition. The attack completely destroyed the hospital as well as a nearby residential building. At least 20 people were killed, including the last pediatrician practicing in the city.

In the face of the increasingly serious violations of the cessation of hostilities, I call for a meeting of the ministers of the International Syria Support Group to be convened as swiftly as possible.

The UN Security Council must also swiftly strengthen the protection of medical personnel and health infrastructure in the areas of conflict. France is especially mobilized and calls for the adoption, within the next few days, of the draft resolution, in the preparation of which it has been fully involved.
