Mme Nathalie Loiseau, Minister for European Affairs, hosted a meeting with her new Swedish counterpart, Mr Hans Dahlgren, on 18 February.
This first meeting provided an opportunity for the ministers to begin their consultations on the next important dates for Europe. Mme Loiseau and Mr Dahlgren discussed, among other things, issues on which French-Swedish cooperation is especially strong, such as upholding the rule of law in Europe, European asylum policy and Social Europe. The same goes for the environment, and in this regard the Minister reiterated our wish for the European Union’s long-term climate strategy to be endorsed at the level of heads of state and government over the coming months.
The Minister also expressed our determination to ensure that our bilateral partnership, signed during the French President’s visit to Gothenburg in November 2017, is strengthened and broadened this year.
