Sudan – United States
The President of the United States announced his intention to begin the process of removing Sudan from the U.S. list of countries that support terrorism. This is an important first step that will make it possible to open a new page in relations with Sudan and to support the transition under way in that country.
France, which has advocated for that removal since the beginning of the transition in Sudan, welcomes this announcement and hopes it can be implemented in a timely fashion. It congratulates the Sudanese authorities for the efforts they have made in this area and remains determined to support the democratic transition they are carrying out.
France reaffirms its intention to host a high-level conference supporting the Sudanese transition, in line with President Macron’s commitment, as soon as Sudan is taken off the list of countries supporting terrorism.
