Sudan – UN sanctions four RSF commanders (February 27, 2026)
France welcomes the Security Council’s imposition of sanctions on four Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commanders – Tijani Ibrahim Moussa Mohamed, aka Al Zeir Salem; Gedo Hamdan Ahmed; Al-Fateh Abdullah Idris, aka Abu Lulu; and Abdul Rahim Hamdan Dagalo – for their role in the current conflict in Sudan. These four names were just added to the sanctions list that already included two RSF officers who had been designated in 2024, under the sanctions regime relating to Darfur that was established by UNSCR 1592.
Through the imposition of these sanctions, which provide for the freezing of assets and travel bans, the Security Council is taking restrictive measures against four RSF members who are responsible for the crimes committed during their offensives against El Fasher in North Darfur.
France co-sponsored these designations, in keeping with its commitment to resolve the Sudan crisis and its resolute effort to combat impunity.
France urges all parties to the conflict to abide by their commitments and comply with their obligations in accordance with the rules of international humanitarian law and international human rights law. Nearly three years after the start of the conflict, France remains committed to working with the Sudanese people to help restore peace.
