Sudan – Signing of the Juba Declaration (11 September 2019)

France welcomes the signing of the peace declaration in Juba between the Sudanese authorities and several rebel groups.

This agreement, which includes measures to build trust among the parties in preparation for negotiations, as well as a provisional timetable, is an important step forward. It allows Sudan to make progress toward achieving a comprehensive peace agreement and confirms the commitment of the new Sudanese authorities in this respect.

France reaffirms its support for the priorities set by the new Sudanese authorities: the conclusion of a peace agreement within six months and Sudan’s economic recovery.
