Sudan - Removal of Sudan from the U.S. State Sponsors of Terrorism list (Dec. 14, 2020)

France welcomes the U.S. decision to remove Sudan from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list, effective December 14. The removal of Sudan from the list acknowledges the efforts undertaken for more than a year now by the Sudanese government and people in order to ensure the success of the political transition. This was an anticipated step - advocated by France - toward normalizing relations between the country and private donors.

France reaffirms its full support for Sudan’s democratic transition and its intention to hold a high-level conference in the first half of 2021 in order to mobilize international support for Sudan, in accordance with the commitment made by President Macron.
