France condemns the confiscation of around 20 editions of Sudanese daily newspapers and magazines in Khartoum which constitutes a gross violation of the freedom of expression and information.

We call on the Sudanese government to ensure respect for fundamental freedoms, in accordance with its international commitments.

The freedom of expression is key to ensuring a climate conducive to encouraging the national dialogue launched by the authorities. This is the only way to enable Sudan to restore peace and address its challenges.
