Sudan – Formation of the new government (5 September 2019)

France welcomes the formation of the new Sudanese government by Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, which is an important milestone in the transition process in Sudan.

It notes with satisfaction the signs of openness reflected by the unprecedented appointment of several women to lead key ministries, as well as the presence in the government team of young people and activists who have been involved in the struggle for human rights and democracy for many years.

France wishes this new government, which has pledged to resolve the problems facing the Sudanese people, to start the country’s economic recovery and to swiftly reach a peace agreement with the rebel groups, every success.

France reaffirms its willingness to support the Sudanese people in this new chapter in its history.
