Q - Did the minister for Europe and foreign affairs receive a letter from the Catalonian delegation in Paris about the institutional declaration of Catalan President Carles Puigdemont? If so, how did he respond?
A - So far we have not received such a letter.
As we said on June 9, this issue is fundamentally a matter of Spanish domestic policy, and it is not France’s job to get involved. It must be resolved within the Spanish constitutional framework.
The French and Spanish people are united by particularly close and longstanding ties of proximity. Friends and allies, France and Spain have maintained an exceptionally dense and high-quality cooperation for many years, particularly in the priority area of domestic security. At a time when the spirit of unity and solidarity must guide us more than ever in revitalizing the European project, the French authorities reiterate the importance they attribute to a strong, united Spain.
