Spain – Meeting between Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne and the French community established in Spain (via video conference, 12 November 2020)

Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is holding a series of video conferences today with the French community in Spain, which numbers more than 80,00 French citizens registered on the register of French nationals living abroad.

The minister of state will speak with the representatives of various French educational establishments – French lycées in Barcelona, Madrid, Murcia, and Ibiza in particular – which are representative of the diversity of statuses within our education network abroad. The discussions will focus on the impact of the health crisis on the functioning of schools, their development and the interconnection between their teaching practices and the Spanish university system.

Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne will speak with representatives of the French business community about the economic outlook for their firms and the employment situation for French citizens in Spain.

The minister of state will speak with the elected representatives of French citizens in Spain and will moderate a public meeting via video conference open to all French citizens living in Spain.

Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne will also speak with the honorary consuls of France in Spain to whom he will express his gratitude for their voluntary efforts to help our compatriots alongside the consular services of the Consulates General of France in Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao.
