South Korea – Third session of the France-Korea strategic dialogue (Paris, 24 May 2019)
Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Kang Kyung-wha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, co-chaired the third session of the France-Korea bilateral strategic dialogue in Paris today.
This dialogue provided an opportunity to discuss the prospects in the Korean Peninsula for achieving our shared goal of the complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of North Korea, as well as the need to continue and support the implementation of the JCPOA.
The two ministers discussed the responses, notably within the framework of the G20, to the critical multilateral issues of climate and the environment, as well as international security challenges.
Ms. Kang Kyung-wha’s visit will help strengthen the “Global Partnership for the 21st Century” between France and South Korea and make progress toward the practical implementation of the priorities identified during President Moon Jae-in’s visit in October: cooperation on key international issues, in the economic field (innovation and cross investment), in the academic and scientific spheres and in the defense and security field.
South Korea is a vital partner of France in Asia: it is its sixth largest client.
