Franck Riester, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke on February 1 with Sinisa Mali, Minister of Finance, Tomislav Momirovic, Minister of Transport, Construction and Infrastructure, and Goran Vesic, Deputy Mayor of Belgrade.

The minister delegate discussed with his interlocutors France’s participation in the construction of Belgrade’s metro system, a landmark project that reflects the vitality of the economic relations between France and Serbia, as well as the modernization of Serbia’s power grid by Schneider Electric. He welcomed the fact that Serbia had chosen French firms to complete the high-tech component of the Belgrade metro system, which will contribute to the modernization of the capital’s urban transport system and to Serbia’s development. During his visit to the Serbian capital on November 26, Franck Riester signed together Sinisa Mali, on behalf of both governments, an intergovernmental agreement that will contribute to the implementation of high-priority projects in Serbia.

Trade between France and Serbia reached record levels in 2019, with a volume of more than €1 billion, while French investment was especially robust, making France the seventh largest foreign investor in Serbia in terms of investment flows.
