Senegal – Chrysoula Zacharopoulou to attend the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security (October 24-26, 2022)

Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, Minister of State for Development, Francophonie and International Partnerships, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will travel to Dakar from October 24-26.

She will take part in the eighth edition of the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security. This year’s theme is “Africa in the Face of Exogenous Shocks: Challenges of Stability and Sovereignty.” At this forum, she will reiterate the importance of Europe and Africa’s partnership with regard to tackling the challenges of security and development in Africa. She will also highlight France’s continued commitment to the Sahel in support of the countries in the region, which covers fields ranging from defense to development.

This visit will also touch upon all our partnerships and cooperation in the fields of health, youth, training, sports and energy. There will be a bilateral French-Senegalese session on emblematic projects such as the French-Senegalese Campus, the Institut Pasteur’s upcoming vaccine manufacturing facility and our partnerships in preparation for the 2024 Summer Olympics and the 2026 Summer Youth Olympics in Dakar. The minister of state will also discuss the issue of Senegal’s energy transition ahead of the COP27, which will be held in Sharm el Sheikh.

The minister of state will meet with President Macky Sall and several members of the Senegalese government.
