Saudi Arabia - Yemen - Rocket and drone strikes (1 September 2021)

France condemns in the strongest possible terms the Houthi-led attacks on Abha airport in southern Saudi Arabia, which injured several civilians, and on the al-Anad air base in Yemen, which caused numerous casualties.

These attacks threaten the security of Saudi territory and regional stability. They confirm the grave threat that the proliferation of drones and missiles represents for the entire region and the need to respond with a diplomatic, regional approach.

France reaffirms its commitment to ending the hostilities via a comprehensive political agreement under the auspices of the UN. To that end, it calls on all the parties to work constructively within a political process to end the crisis in Yemen under the leadership of the UN Secretary-General’s new special envoy.
