Saudi Arabia - Q&A - Excerpts from the daily press briefing (08.07.19)
Q - The Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions Agnès Callamard said that the G20 in Riyadh should be moved elsewhere following the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Do you agree with that?
A - France’s position regarding the Khashoggi affair is well known. We demanded that the facts be clearly established in this very serious case, that all necessary investigations be completed – including with a possible international dimension – and that the perpetrators of this crime be prosecuted and punished.
For the record, the Saudi presidency of the G20 was decided upon at the summit in Hamburg in 2017 and confirmed at the most recent meeting of this international forum in Osaka.
