Saudi Arabia – Missile fire on Riyadh

France condemns the firing of several missiles by Houthi rebels at Saudi Arabia, and notably Riyadh, on June 24.

This attack, for which Houthi rebels claimed credit, is a new assault on Saudi Arabia’s security and the stability of the region. The firing of missiles that deliberately target populated areas is unacceptable. It illustrates the seriousness of the threat that ballistic proliferation represents for the entire region, as set forth in the latest report by the UN Panel of Experts on Yemen.

France calls for the full implementation of the arms embargo established by UN Security Council resolution 2216 in 2015, an immediate end to the firing of missiles, and an end to all foreign assistance to Houthi rebels in this regard.

We reaffirm our support for and solidarity with Saudi Arabia. France will continue working to achieve a political solution to the crisis in Yemen that respects the aspirations of all members of its population.
