Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, received Vincent Biruta, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda, on May 17.
The minister discussed prospects for opening a new chapter in our bilateral relations with Rwanda and underscored the efforts aimed at convergence toward a common understanding of the genocide of the Tutsis.
The minister underscored France’s support in the areas of health, infrastructure and digital affairs, and the strengthening of our cooperation in the cultural and la Francophonie fields.
Lastly, this meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the regional situation, notably in the Central African Republic. In this regard, Jean-Yves Le Drian reaffirmed France’s hope that the authorities of the Central African Republic would pursue an inclusive national dialogue with all of the country’s key players as swiftly as possible.
