Russia - Q&A (Oct.13, 2022)

Ukraine has observed the repeated use of kamikaze drones provided to the Russian army by Iran. Do you plan to discuss this at the European level with a view to potentially imposing sanctions, as the United States has already done with certain Iranian companies?

We have taken note of the many reports of the Russian armed forces’ use of Iranian drones to carry out strikes against civilian targets in Ukraine, which likely constitute war crimes. Several of our European and international partners have also noted this.

Moreover, the provision of Iranian drones to Russia would be considered a violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231.

We are coordinating with our European partners on a forthcoming response and will continue to support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
