Q: Regarding the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines, Nord Stream 2 has not started running and Nord Stream 1 is under maintenance. Parts of Nord Stream 1 (turbines) are repaired in Canada. Would France prefer that these parts not be returned to service?

A: These matters are not decided by the French authorities.

As you know, in the face of Russian gas delivery blackmail against the backdrop of that country’s aggression against Ukraine, France and its EU partners made the decision at the Versailles Summit in March to gradually put an end to their dependence on gas, oil and coal imports from Russia and to do so as soon as possible. We are mobilizing all of our efforts for this purpose both in France and in Europe.
