Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, spoke with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on the telephone today. He reaffirmed France’s determination to continue its open dialogue with Russia.
The two ministers discussed the situation in Syria. Jean-Marc Ayrault highlighted the need to resolve the current deadlock and therefore to put an end to the bombing of Aleppo in order to allow access for humanitarian assistance and to pave the way for a political solution.
The two ministers also discussed Ukraine, while a meeting is taking place in Minsk at the senior official level in order to review progress toward implementing the Minsk agreements.
