Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic spoke on Friday, 2 July 2021 with Mr Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation. The two Presidents discussed the need to extend our structured dialogue on the strategic stability of the European continent. President Macron reaffirmed France’s desire for a more confident relationship to be forged between the European Union and Russia.

On Ukraine, President Macron recalled the relevance of the Normandy Format, within which France and Germany act as mediators to enable Ukraine and Russia to bring an end to the conflict and find lasting solutions.

On Libya, President Macron called on Russia, and all other stakeholders, to comply with the agreements concluded, which should enable the swift departure of foreign troops and militias.
