Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will receive Bujar Osmani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, on February 23.

The minister will reaffirm France’s support for North Macedonia’s European prospects and its support in helping the country embark on the necessary reforms, especially with respect to the rule of law, which is at the heart of the European project. The reform of the accession process will help make this process more credible, attractive and reversible.

The minister will welcome the high quality of our bilateral relations, which fall within the framework of France’s strategy for the Western Balkans, and the intensification of our cooperation with North Macedonia, notably in the economic and security spheres.

Following their meeting, the two ministers will sign three bilateral cooperation agreements:

  • an agreement relating to the establishment and activities of the French Development Agency, Proparco and Expertise France in North Macedonia;
  • an agreement on the donation to North Macedonia’s Ministry of the Interior of a ballistic missile tracking system that will make it possible to identify weapons and to track down the persons involved. This donation, which concludes a cooperation project led by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs’ Directorate for Security and Defense Cooperation, will contribute to strengthening our cooperation with Western Balkan countries with respect to the fight against firearms trafficking, within the framework of the regional roadmap launched together with Germany in 2017;
  • a film co-production agreement.
