Q - What’s your analysis of Saudi Arabia’s list of “terrorists” supported by Qatar? Is a meeting planned between the minister and his Qatari counterpart?
Q - Former foreign minister Laurent Fabius said that investigations by French agencies showed that Qatar wasn’t financing terrorism. Are you sticking to that line?
A - Jean-Yves Le Drian is hosting his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, today. He raised the issue of the crisis in the Gulf with the Egyptian authorities on June 8 in Cairo and is in regular contact with his counterparts in the region. He hosted Saudi Foreign Affairs Minister Adel al-Jubeir on June 6.
Combating terrorism and its sources of financing are a priority for France. We are counting on the commitment of each of our partners in the region.
We are committed to progress in regional integration, which is a guarantee of stability, and hope that the current tensions will be resolved through dialogue.
