Q- Is Paris considering reviewing its relations with Qatar, which has been accused of supporting terrorism?
A - We maintain long-standing and regular dialogue with all countries in the Gulf region as we do with Egypt. Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian will receive his Saudi counterpart today and will speak on the telephone with his Qatari counterpart. He will receive the representative of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi tomorrow for the French-UAE strategic dialogue. He will visit Egypt on Thursday where he will meet with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his counterpart.
France is attached to ensuring progress on regional integration in the Gulf region as elsewhere which is key to stability and expresses the hope that the current tensions can be resolved through dialogue.
We stand alongside the countries of the region in the necessary efforts to intensify the fight against terrorist groups, their supporters and their funding. We are working closely with them to put an end to the crises in the region and to restore peace, security and stability there.
