Poland - Laurence Boone Visiting Warsaw (30 November 2022)

Laurence Boone, Minister of State for Europe, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is traveling to Poland on November 30.

The Minister of State will meet with her Polish counterpart, Minister for the European Union Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, to discuss the continuation of EU assistance to Ukraine in all its forms and over the long term. They will also discuss the upcoming December 13th conference in support of civilian resilience in Ukraine that is being jointly organized by France and Ukraine and will be held at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in Paris.

Laurence Boone and her counterpart will address Europe’s response to the energy crisis. The Minister of State will reiterate France’s commitment to strengthening our energy independence and controlling energy costs for homes and businesses. They will likewise discuss the rule of law and Poland’s recovery and resilience plan. Lastly, they will touch on economic cooperation between France and Poland.

Laurence Boone will also visit the lower house of the Polish parliament, the Sejm, where she will meet with Marek Suski and Tomasz Piotr Nowak, respectively the Chair and Vice Chair of the Committee on Energy, Climate and State Assets, and Agnieszka Pomaska, Vice President of the European Union Affairs Committee.

At the end of her trip, Laurence Boone will visit a shelter for Ukrainian refugees managed by the Warsaw city government, thereby recognizing Poland’s significant efforts in this area.
