In the face of the damage caused by Super Typhoon Rai (Odette), which has killed nearly 400 people and displaced several tens of thousands in the Philippines, France stands alongside the Philippine people.

In response to the population’s most urgent needs and in support of the Philippine authorities’ action, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs is releasing €1 million in emergency aid through its Crisis and Support Centre, to support the actions taken by the French NGO ACTED and the French Red Cross with its partner, the Philippine Red Cross. This aid will enable several thousand family and hygiene kits to be distributed, as well as materials allowing homes destroyed or damaged in Surigao del Norte, Palawan and Bohol provinces to be urgently restored. Furthermore, and in response to the United Nations’ appeal, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has decided to grant €1 million to the actions being carried out by the World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
