Q : How is France responding to the presidential election in Niger and the violence following the election? Is it taking note, like the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, of the announced result?

A : As we wait for Niger’s Constitutional Court to proclaim the final results of that country’s presidential election, France calls on all political stakeholders to promote a climate of dialogue and calm, and to use legal means to resolve any disputes.

In this regard, it condemns the violence that followed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s announcement of the provisional results of the runoff election on February 23.
