France utterly condemns the attack against a school and the kidnapping of several hundred students, for which Boko Haram has claimed responsibility, on December 11 in Katsina state, in northern Nigeria, as well as the attack carried out by the same terrorist group in the village of Toumour in the Diffa region of Niger, during the night preceding the local elections on December 13, which left several civilians dead.

France expresses its solidarity with the families of the victims of these attacks. It calls for the immediate and unconditional release of the students kidnapped in Nigeria and reaffirms that attacks against schools constitute a serious violation of human rights.

The perpetrators must be identified and held accountable for their crimes.

France reaffirms its support for Nigeria and Niger as well as the other Lake Chad basin countries in their efforts to combat terrorism and promote regional stability.
