Franck Riester, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, visited Morocco from October 11 to 13. This was his first visit outside of the EU. He met with Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister for Industry, Trade and the Green and Digital Economy, as well as with Moroccan economic stakeholders and heads of French subsidiaries in Morocco.
The minister and his counterpart underscored the importance of French investment in Morocco and Moroccan investment in France, as well as ambitious sector-specific cooperation between France and Morocco, reflecting the vitality of the economic relations between our two countries. The two ministers called for the strengthening of the French-Moroccan economic partnership, which should focus, first and foremost, on the decarbonization of the economy, digital strategy and innovation, the development of SMEs and joint cooperation projects in Africa.
Morocco is the largest African investor in France and the leading destination for French investment on the African continent, with more than 950 French subsidiaries generating more than 100,000 jobs.
