Morocco – Visit by Matthias Fekl (October 21 to 22, 2015)

Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, visited Casablanca and Rabat on October 21 and 22; he was accompanied by a large business delegation and Estelle Grelier, Member of the National Assembly and Chairwoman of Business France. He notably met with his counterparts, Moulay Hafid El Alamy, Minister of Industry, Trade, and New Technologies, and Lahcen Haddad, Minister of Tourism.

The purpose of this visit is follow up on the economic component of President Hollande’s visit to Tangiers from September 19 to 20. It was devoted to strengthening the French-Moroccan economic partnership and to supporting SME’s, notably in the sustainable city, green industry and tourism sectors.

In Casablanca, Mr. Fekl worked with Wali of Casablanca Khalid Safir on strengthening our presence in this city, to which Alstom is due to deliver 50 new trams worth €100 million. At the Pollutec trade fair devoted to the environmental and sustainable development sectors, he inaugurated the French pavilion, which will bring together more than 70 firms, and will attend the first presentation of the French company Astainable.

Matthias Fekl also presided over the ceremony to mark the signing by Atout France of two partnerships with the Moroccan National Tourist Office and the Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering. He also presided over the launch of a €25million line of credit to finance the purchase of French goods and services by SMEs operating in Morocco and the signing of an aid contract to identify high potential SMEs between BpiFrance and the caisse centrale de gestion (Central Management Fund).

In Casablanca as well as in Rabat, Matthias Fekl met with the French community and the consular advisors, locally elected representatives of French nationals abroad.
