Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, will travel to Mexico today, together with a business delegation, for the inaugural flight of the A380 operated by Air France in the presence of Frédéric Gagey, Chairman and CEO of Air France.
Seven months after President Enrique Peña Nieto’s visit to France, this trip will provide an opportunity for Matthias Fekl to work on strengthening our bilateral relations with the ministers of foreign affairs, tourism and the economy, as well as with the deputy minister of transport and the mayor of Mexico City.
He will take part, alongside Claudia Ruiz Massieu, Mexican Minister of Foreign Affairs, in a meeting of the French-Mexican Strategic Council, which will be co-chaired by Ambassador Philippe Faure and Jorge Castañeda. He will close the High Level Group on Tourism and launch, on February 10, the Atout France campaign to promote the regional destinations of Bourgogne, Aquitaine and Paris. Matthias Fekl will also chair the ceremony to mark the signing of a letter of intent for a French Development Agency loan to help finance Mexico City’s metro system and will inaugurate Safran’s engine maintenance facility in Querétaro.
The minister of state will meet with the French community and its elected representatives during his visit.
