Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, met yesterday with Mr. Idefonso Guajardo, Mexico’s Economy Minister, who is taking part in the Mexico Business Summit in France.
They reviewed the strengthening of economic relations between our two countries, in preparation for President Peña Nieto’s upcoming official visit to Paris on July 14. This meeting provided an opportunity to confirm the quality and vitality of our economic ties. Our trade has been steadily increasing over the past several years (€4.2 billion in 2014), and we have a positive balance of trade. Numerous projects have been launched in strategic sectors such as aerospace and transport.
Mr. Fekl and Mr. Guajardo discussed trade relations between the EU and Mexico.
In addition, they welcomed the fruitful cultural and commercial cooperation between Mexico and France, as reflected in particular by the forthcoming establishment of a Maison du Mexique in France.
