Murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia (16.10.2017)
A year after the murder of Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, France reiterates its condemnation of any attack against journalists or the freedom of expression.
It again expresses its desire that full light be swiftly shed on those who ordered this murder, so that it does not go unpunished.
The defense of press freedom and the freedom of expression, as well as the protection of journalists, are priorities for France’s foreign policy, while almost 800 journalists have been killed while carrying out or because of their work around the world over the last 10 years, according to Reporters Without Borders (RSF), and 90% of crimes committed against journalists have not been prosecuted.
