I strongly condemn the attack on the headquarters of the G5 Sahel Joint Force in Sévaré, Mali, which killed several soldiers from the Joint Force and injured others.
I offer my condolences to the families of the victims, wish those injured a speedy recovery, and express my full solidarity with the Malian authorities and other G5 countries.
This attack strengthens our resolve to stand by our G5 partners in the fight against terrorism. The Joint Force has already demonstrated its usefulness in the fight against terrorism and must continue to conduct operations in the coming months. We remain at the disposal of the Malian authorities and the G5 to provide our support and expertise on strengthening the camp’s security, should they desire such assistance.
