Colonel Assimi Goïta, who was sworn in as the interim president of Mali on Monday, gave assurances that his country would comply with all of its commitments made to the international community. In your view, has he provided sufficient guarantees in this respect? If so, when will France re-establish its military cooperation and its joint operations with Mali?

We have taken note of the announcements made yesterday by Assimi Goïta, and of the appointment of a civilian interim prime minister, Choguel Maïga, who must now form a government.

We remain attentive to the next steps that must be taken by the Malian authorities in order to clarify the framework for the political transition, as requested by ECOWAS and Mali’s other regional and international partners. We are continuing to work closely with these partners.
