Jean-Yves le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will represent President Macron in Bamako on September 22 at the inauguration of President-elect of the Republic of Mali, Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, scheduled to take place on the same day as Mali’s national holiday.
During this visit, he will meet with President Keïta, as well as with Prime Minister Soumeylou Boubeye Maiga. He will reaffirm France’s support; France stands alongside Mali in the fight against terrorism. He will also discuss with them French-Malian cooperation in the area of development, which is key to eliminating the root causes of instability. He will reaffirm France’s support for the Malian peace and reconciliation process, the path chosen by the international community in order to restore harmony in Mali.
The minister will also meet with other African heads of state and ministers - partners of France - on the sidelines of the ceremony.
