Q: What is your response to the Malian authorities’ decision to ban activities by NGOs that receive French funding?

A:We take note of and regret the decision by the Malian transition authorities “to ban, with immediate effect, all activities carried out by NGOs operating in Mali with funding or material or technical support from France, including in the humanitarian field” – a decision taken, unfortunately, at the expense of the Malian people.
France applauds the essential work carried out by French, Malian and international NGOs in Mali in recent years. We ask French NGOs to comply with this regrettable decision by the Malian transition authorities.

As a reminder, every year since 2013, Mali and its people have benefited from more than €100 million in French official development assistance and humanitarian aid that has helped the Malian people gain access to healthcare, drinking water, electricity and education.
