Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will receive Naina Andriantsitohaina, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Madagascar, today.
He will express France’s support for Madagascar, which is a great friend, following the recent presidential election - a very positive step which we commended. France intends to support the efforts of the new government of Madagascar to achieve the goals of development, prosperity and fighting severe poverty, as expected by the people of Madagascar. To that end, the ministers will discuss bilateral cooperation which we would like to strengthen, notably in the areas of education, vocational training, agriculture, forest conservation and biodiversity.
Jean-Yves Le Drian and Naina Andriantsitohaina will also discuss the issues at stake in regional cooperation and the prospects for joint action in the Indian Ocean.
Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will also receive Naina Andriantsitohaina.
