Luxembourg – Phone conversation between Amélie de Montchalin and Luxembourg’s minister for family affairs, integration and the greater region (28 Apr. 2020)

Amélie de Montchalin, Minister of State for European Affairs, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke today by phone with Corinne Cahen, Luxembourg’s Minister for Family Affairs, Integration and the Greater Region.

This telephone call provided an opportunity for the minister of state to thank Luxembourg for receiving Covid-19 patients for care in its hospitals and to mention the excellent results of the cooperation between France and the Grand Duchy at the height of the health crisis, notably with respect to the free movement and rights of cross-border workers. The telephone call also provided an opportunity to discuss the gradual easing of lockdown measures, notably in order to coordinate strategies for our common border and to take into consideration the reciprocal human, social and economic interdependences in this shared population center. The two ministers reached an agreement on the holding of a future bilateral coordination meeting in order to prevent any difficulties that may arise as a result of the epidemic.
